How to make a smart notebook resource

My ICT education developed further this week with a look into creating your own smart board resources in smart notebook.

My very first resource was a simple drag and drop resource which would be used for helping KS1 recognise flags of Europe. After selecting the geography section on the side we chose a small amount of flags that we would used and dragged them into our blank document. We then created the same amount of empty boxes (shape tool) and we filled them with colour

-Right Click box

-Solid Fill

Simple

Now we wanted only the correct flags to be accepted into the correct box.  By selecting the grey box and then clicking on the jigsaw on the side you can then make an activity in which it will accept and retain some items and get rid of all the others. In the example below from my resource the grey box is programmed to accept only the U.K union flag and reject any other flags.

The result was a simple game in which children attempt to drop the correct flag into the coresponding box.

Download this Geography resource here.

I have so far used both the promethean software and the smart notebook software for smartboards in school. Both are very similar and very intuitive to use. There are lots of other pre made files for both of these types of software available on sites such as ‘Primary resources’
